What is the difference between measuring calipers and a layout square?

Calipers compare surfboard thickness across the blank. A layout square measures from the stringer towards the rail so width points can be marked for the nose, centre and tail.

How are the scribe tool and template marker different?

The scribe is intended for marking rail bands and can accept different pencil sizes. The template marker follows a rail curve so it can be transferred to template material.

Which surform should I choose?

A smaller surform gives control in tighter areas, while wide or adjustable-handle models provide different reach and leverage for early foam removal. Choose according to the surface and your preferred shaping technique.

What is the concave, belly and vee tool used for?

It is designed to shape or check concave and convex bottom contours using hook-and-loop abrasive paper. Work gradually and measure often so both sides remain consistent.

Do I need a fin marker, protractor and installation jig?

They perform different jobs. A marker lays out fin position, a protractor checks or sets angle, and a system-specific jig guides installation. The required combination depends on the fin system and build method.
